hunky dory apron

the idea to create a blog about my adventures in craftland began when i decided to enroll in a beginner's sewing class near the office to help pass the time until traffic died down.  i had the option of several projects, but i chose to make a handmade apron that i could wear while entertaining friends in my humble sf apartment.  understated, it was SOO much fun!

i really enjoyed this project from beginning to end, but the most exciting part was selecting the pattern and fabrics.  the main fabric for the apron -- called hunky dory -- is the inspiration for this blog.  it was also my first experience with a kokka fabric, and i think the newspaper print fabric really added a lot of character to the green floral cotton.  i can't wait to use the leftover fabric for future projects.

The inspiration for the blog
i've already received quite a few compliments on my first project.  as a newbie in the kitchen, i think i'm off to a pretty good start.  what do you think?

The finishing touch: an old pin from Gap Kids.
