there's that famous
oldie that tells listeners, "if you're going to san francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair." while i don't wear flowers in my hair, i do sleep on them every night. close enough?
here's my first pillowcase made of floral flannel that i got during a huge sale at
Joann's. despite a smug comment i overheard by a more experienced sewer about how cheap the quality of fabric is at joann's, i couldn't be any happier with my can't-go-wrong $5/yard fabric. this pillowcase makes the chilly san francisco nighttimes cozier, and it gets softer with every wash. maybe with the extra fabric, i'll make matching pj pants one day!

I used bias tape to trim the pillowcase. |

Instead of using a pattern or set of instructions, I looked at an old pillowcase. You can see here that on my first try, I accidentally sewed the fabric inside out. But even the best of us make honest mistakes every now and then :) |

I handsewed the trim onto the pillowcase for a more handmade look. |
sweet dreams, san franciscans. rock on scott mckenzie.
